r34 engine
hey I'm pretty new to modelling cars (I did a few when I was younger, progressively better quality) and decided to get back into it recently. To do so I purchased a the Tamiya Skyline R34 GT-R V.spec II, and all the accessories like paint and tools.
After opening the box I discovered that the kit doesn't include a detailed engine (it has the under side showing for when the bottom of the car is viewed). I was a little dissapointed, because the other 5 or so models I built all had engines included (they were brands like Revell and Monogram) even though they were all V8s. Anyhow after looking through this [great :-)] forum I have seen some beautifully detailed engine bays with engines including a skyline (I think the motor is called an RB26TT). I was wondering how I could get an engine to put in my model, if any companies make aftermarket engines that I can use that will fit into the model, or if most of the engines I saw were scratchbuilt. Any help would be great. |

Re: r34 engine
Most of the engines you see in the skylines are from the R32 skyline kit. Usually, only american companies make engines for their models.

Re: r34 engine
You can get the RB26 from either any of the Tamiya R32 GT-R's or the Aoshima HKS Kansai R32.
You will have to modify the model to get the motor into a R34. Hope this helps.

Re: r34 engine
Yes, try to look for the older jtcc r32, they are cheaper and easier to find, well the ones at mu LHS goes for 20-25$ CAN.
You'll get a nice set of racing rims and tire too Quote:

Re: r34 engine
I'd suggest finding a JGTC R32, like the Tamiya R32 Zexel skyline. It has a Single Turbo RB26DET which I think cranks out 500hp ( I think, not sure, it competes in the GT500 class) So, basically you'd have a 500hp Turbo street R34, and you can still build the R32, just glue the hood shut, or make a diorama with the car's hood up, motor out, and next to it with your assorted tool boxes and such you can have the R34 with hood open showing the R32 race motor in it!

Re: r34 engine
cool thanks everyone I think I might buy the R32 kit and use the engine from it. That is once I finish my kit first and see if I want a new one or to detail it!
