Air Intake Question??? Squeal?

I just put an air intake on my car (d15b1) and it was off an integra or something...I got it for $30...it wouldn't fit around my battery so what I did was cut the tube and took out the stock filter box etc., and put this in there using the stock tube into the manifold. So now the "cone" is sitting where the stock filter box was. It works fine...the problem is every time I step on the gas to 'go'...I am getting this "squeal"...what did I do wrong?? What's the problem?

???

it could be just ur alternator belt loose.. Is it a squeal or a loud high pitched sucking noise?

what you're actually hearing is the EACV. on the stock intake, you cant hear the EACV motor turning because the airbox quiets it down too much, but once you put a free flowing filter and bigger pipe on it, you can hear it opening and closing.

I'll bet it only does it at certain rpms, and in some cases, it sounds kind of like a turbo spooling

yea intakes arnt stock so naturally something is gonna not work exactly right. I just test drove a 98 civic with an aem intake and i heard this little whine when i reved it up. at first i was like wtf, then GTA asked me about it before i could get a chance to mention it and pointed out that it was the intake at work.

kinda weird if you ask me but hey ... lets you know your really getting more air in there huh?

Very weird...sounds like your tuning a radio and your getting that "whine" that you get when you're not quite getting reception...very strange that like 91civicDXdude said that it only happens at certain rpms and such...I have to check that I have no leaks...perhaps it is just some air escaping where it shouldn't be that is creating a 'whistle/squeal'??
