winisd? port volume?

ok, I got my box designed on winisd, and I got the port diametewrs and lengths figured out, but does winisd acount for the area the port takes up? if it doesnt I just have to add that much mopre space in the box correct. like I have the box designed to 2 ft^2 and the sub takes up .18ft^3 and the port takes up .09 do I make the box 2.27 ft^3?

I remember last time I built a box I kept finding out the port area and adjusting the box volume until the port length quit changingor something like that. I dont exactly remember what it was ebcause it was a couple years ago. but now I am thinking I did it wrong. It sounded really good anyways but id like to get it right this time.

Re: winisd? port volume?

port area and internal sub area is different. You'll need to add the subwoofer's physical displacement and the port volume to the whole box. So yes, if you want 2.0 cubes, you'll have to add the driver and port, totalling to 2.27 in your example.

arent they basically the same. the sub displaces an amouhnt of air and the port does the same? I got the .18 figure from audiobahns spec page and I think i got the math right for the por isnt it 2*pie*r so 2x3.14x2 and then multiplied by the length of the port.

Re: winisd? port volume?

yup. that formula would get you the port volume. Take that and the woofer's physical displacement and add them together. Then make your box X bigger to account for the port volume and driver displacement.

I remember one time I forgot to calculate it seperately so trying to make a 3.0 cubic feet box, I ended up with only 2.2 cubes. lol!
