I just got it like 2 months ago and i currently has 73,000 miles on it. the problem i am having is that when i am accelerating from a standstill i hear this loud click coming from under the car. i am not sure where it is coming from since i cant really tell when i am in the car. this doesnt happen all the time but it really worries me when i do hear it. any help you guys can give me would be much appreciated. We would love to help, but the discription you gave is not detailed enough?
You might just want to take it to a garage, and see what they say. Then get back to us. Make sure they are not blowin smoke

Re: sound when i accelerate
Welcome aboard!
So yeah, more info would be good. First find out if its RPM specific, or MPH specific. Does it do it in neutral or while driving. When it happens, remember what you were doing when it happened, then try and replicate it to pine point when it happens. Other then that, there's not too much else we can do over the Internet. Noises are very hard to diagnose without hearing, ya know?

Re: sound when i accelerate
hey skylovia -
i might be having the same problem, check out my thread called "grinding gears" ..it still should be in like the top 20 threads or whatever...mine happens at around 1k rpm or so. Mine is more of a somewhat gridning noise as opposed to a clicking sound. If that is similar let me know. I was recommended to change my transmision and differential fluid. |

so here is exactly what happens and what i do. i will be at a complete stop, foot on brake. ill release the brake and push in on the gas. the very moment my foot makes contact with the gas pedal, i will hear the sound, like a loud "clunk." like if something was hitting something, ill only hear the sound the very moment i touch on the gas wont hear it again until i come to another stop and touch the gas again. i am always in drive when i hear the sound. i hope this helps more.

Re: sound when i accelerate
Shift from drive to reverse will sitting still, don't give any gas though. Listen to see if you hear the clunking again. It's possiable that it could be u-joints.

Re: sound when i accelerate
okay, that definently sounds different than what happens to me. I have a 5spd, so that is maybe why my deal is different. What I was recommanded to do was have my manual transmission and differential fluid drained and replaced.

I heard a noise like that in my daughters car the other day! The past owner had put window weights in the trunk
I did have a noise problem with my 94 Mustang I found that under hard accelaration* the drive shaft was rubbing on one the E- brake cable!

hey, i know that the 94 and 95 gt's have a really bad prob. w/ detonation when excellerating to high rpms...if its a pinging sound thats prob the deal... it can be fixed by bumping up the timing a bit

You retard, not advance with detonation.

Re: sound when i accelerate
okay, well I can't confirm this, but i had the tranmission and differential fluid replaced, and my dad is reporting that the grinding noise i reported earlier has stoped. I won't be 100% sure until I go home this weekend to test this out myself, but things are looking up. I believe that is the last of my problems with the car and I finally get to take it back with me.
I will try to get pictures up as soon as i get a hold of a digital camera...don't know if anyone is interested..but who cares, i can post what i want

Re: sound when i accelerate
okay, i guess all is not well in paradise...the grinding seems to have been reduced significantly....from where i heard it in almost every time i went into first, to now much much more seldomly....but alas, it is still there..so i am stumped
