Re: Evo Viii

upgrade the turbo fuel pump probably new injectors. I would get a greddy boost controller then i think you would be good. Don't run too much boost but you can get 300 hp out of that engine pretty easily

Re: what mods would be needed to make the gsx/gst have the same hp as the EVO VIII?

If your car was stock, I would start off by upgrading your air intake, a K&N air filter, and replace the restrictive UPIC pipes. Also, do the MBC at this time. I would next do a fuel pump, downpipe and exhaust. No sense in having a turbo if you are going to choke it. Now when this is complete go with injectors and a turbo. ONLY do the turbo when you have the fuel and air flow to back it. Oh yeah, when you get injectors you should also get a controller like S-AFC. Don't know what year the car is, but if its a 2g you would need a 1g bov or something and should be replaced when the UPIC pipes are. Also a datalogger, very important.

I'm not sure I understand the question. You can almost match the power of the EVO with the stock 2g turbo. 1g is no problem. Very minor mods will be required to match the power of the evo, and you can build 3 equal 2Gs or 4-5 1Gs for the cost of a new EVO I do like those cars though, for sure.

Re: what mods would be needed to make the gsx/gst have the same hp as the EVO VIII?

the Evo doesn't have alot more power then the Eclipse so it should be quite easy to match its power as 95gsxracer said. try an Evo III Big 16g Turbo [stock turbo from Evo] Evo III Manifold, Evo III 02sensor, and a few other minor mods and u should get more then enough power then an EVO.

Re: what mods would be needed to make the gsx/gst have the same hp as the EVO VIII?

Evo 16g $569
Fuel Pump $90
Injectors $270
Turbo install only on a 2g $200
Downpipe $240
These are all rough estimats on prices, which may very due to supplier.
I don't think you said weather you had a 1g or 2g. If you have a 1g, you wouldn't need a new turbo the 14b is well capable of producing 300hp.

oh yea, 400HP is very possible for a DSM of any type. However, I would suggest you set your mind on short term goals for now. A 60 trim should get you up to 400HP or so, but that will require A LOT of supporting mods. If you are going for around 300-350....i would go the route I am on.
FIPK (K&N $100)
Hard Intake Pipe ($80 used)
UICP for 1G BOV (Dave Brode $65)
1G BOV ($30 used)
Manual Boost Controller ($40)
Gauges (boost & EGT - $210 or so)
3'' cat-back ($300-500)
3'' DP w/ HFC ($350)
190lph Fuel Pump ($100)
Evo III 16G ported with 35 MM FLAPPER A MUST! ($650-$700)
2G Install Kit ($200)
1G intake manifold and TB ($100 used)
Then SAFCII and datalogger, a bigger fuel pump, and EBC and and im pretty much good to go. Then just tuning it to a good DD setting, and im good to go for well over 300 very safely.
