In Progress-Datsun Roadster chassis completed

I'm building this for a Datsun buddy. Here are 1:1 pics of his car followed by the kit pics. This is the Fujimi 1/24 kit. The kit is very detailed with respect to chassis and interior, but the kit has the engine bottom(block/head/pan) cast into chassis, while the top(valve cover/ carbs) is one separate piece! Anyhow I'm embarrassed to post so in my defense: I don't use an airbrush, I use Testors paint for detailing, and I've never used DetailMaster parts cuz I'm cheap(and lazy)---but that changed with my 510 model

Okay 2nd try!
The 1:1 engine bay:

These are the closest to 15" Panasports, centers wil be gunmetal. They look more like Konig Rewinds, disc front/finned drum rear

My faviorite part, the chassis! Fuel line to carbs in there, still need to add brake lines/parking brake

The rare competition oilpan, I made a hole in my 1:1!

U-bolt

Exhaust/rear suspension detail

Too Low!

anything I can do(or add) to make it look better?

Magnificent work! Who make those rims? They look great. Is it going to be red?
*edit* Missed the part about being a 1:1 replica... but red looks darn nice.

This will be a sensational model, the standard of engineering in a lot of projects of late has been phenomenal. great pictures as well, it really highlights the quality of your work, well done, keep up the good work!!

I also see a lot of what it looks like brass parts which i can only pressume to be brass pins am i correct?? the radiator cap seems out of scale i guess since examining the photo of the real engine bay, the kit raditor cap seems way bigger.

Thanks guys!
I really appreciate the feedback. This forum has made me re-think all of my built models. I want to go back and wire engines, add seatbelts, panel lines, etc. Seeing that GT2 by Slk320, the WRX by robrex, just blew my mind. Carpeting in 1/24...that's nuts.
Anyways, this Datsun will be silver to duplicate the real car. All the chassis bolts are suppose to be brass, so I just used carefully applied paint. Is there a photoetched nut/bolt kit out there?
Yeah that radiator cap is big! Kind of cartoonish I guess.

The wheels are from the Toyota Celica 1600 kit. They are really close to Panasports/Mini-lites. RS Watanabe's are also similar.

So next will be the interior...I will use a seatbelt kit as the real thing had black 4pt harnesses and I will also nerf pad the rollbar.

P.S.
I'm using a tip from a "How to make a tach" thread to add a tach to my 510, will update soon. I love this place

I know what you mean dude, ive only been here for around 2 months and being around such talented people has changed the way i carry out builds, and yeah i love this place too hehehe.

You got me convinced with the brass paint, well picked out details!thats why i thought they might have been brass pins out of artesania wooden ship models. looking great so far, always have a soft spot for old school cars like these.

Beautifull work! I can really appreciate all the time and extra added detail you put into this model!

The engine looks top notch and witing makes it super realistic. You have a great talent!! Please keep providing more photo updates. We are all taking notes!

Thanks for sharing. (By the way, the p]hotoetch nut and bolt can be had from this site : www.scaleracecars.com juist search for "nuts and bolts", but in my opnion yours look just as realistic!)

Awesome, dude, completely awesome. It looks fantastic so far. The only thing that I can see that I would have done was sand or fill the seam between the transmission halves. Otherwise, this model is just amazing!! Keep up the good work!
