Prank of the Month.....

Insults Spoil Orders At Burger King Drive-Through
Managers Work To Change Radio Frequency

POSTED: 4:05 p.m. EST January 8, 2004
UPDATED: 4:10 p.m. EST January 8, 2004

TROY, Mich. -- Police believe one or two young men, possibly teenagers, are responsible for issuing obscenities and insults to customers at a Troy, Mich., Burger King drive-through window.

"You don't need a couple of Whoppers. You are too fat. Pull ahead," Officer Gerry Scherlink said is an example of what the hackers are telling customers at the drive-through speaker.

The men are reportedly tapping into the wireless frequency at the restaurant located at 14 Mile and John R roads. Police believe the culprits are watching and broadcasting from close range.

The pranks began last week and continued until Tuesday, according to a WDIV-TV report. They reportedly occurred around 3 p.m.

Scherlinck said the men are telling customers who order a Coca-Cola that, "We don't have Coke." And when the customer asks what they do have, the hacker would say," We don't have anything. Pull ahead."

But what has managers concerned is the profanity the hackers are using, according to police.

A drive-through customer told WDIV on Wednesday that if he had children with him in the car and someone used profanity, he would have been upset.

Burger King franchise owner Tony Versace issued the following statement in response to the incidents:

"We apologize to our customers who've been insulted by the use of this drive-through speaker."

Management at the fast-food restaurant is reportedly trying to change the radio frequency used for the speakers.

The pranks are considered a misdemeanor in Troy and could bring three months in jail and fines for anyone convicted, the station reported.

One time in high school we went through the McDonalds drive-thru in a Suburban in reverse. The person working the window was like, "what the hell!!"

I have seen someone drive through one with a 5 ton straight truck and rip the over head canopy and sign clean off the building.
I should keep a camera with me so I can post these things.
