'91 corolla (AE-92)

hi everybody-

i would really appreciate your help on this one. like most of you know, its not really easy to find info on modifying corollas, especially ones this old ('91). i've got kind of an interesting situation on my hands; my neighbors gave me this car, just gave it to me for free! what a gift! there's only one thing about the giving deal, i have to give it away when i'm done...no selling it. obviously, that brings an interesting element, because some things i could do to it, like painting it or anything like that, i know i won't get the money back. but, i got this car for free, so i'm not complaining. i'd like to keep this car for awhile and in the process turn it into a better car. do you have any suggestions for mods i could make? and the cost of those if possible? any engine swaps that would fit in this car? websites with more info? anything at all related to turning this thing into a beast...hehe. i know this isn't a car thats often modified, which is exactly why i want to. oh...any suggestions on where/how much to get a car lowered in southern california...the orange county area?
thanks for your help
scott

I dont wnat to be a downer on your dreams but modding a car isnt like buying clothes it might seem that with other cars like civics or volkswagons tunning is a brainless operation, thats due to the fact that major companies like JUN Spoon Mugen..... take all the work out of tunning a car. tunning a car likea corolla is not done much often because the people who do mod them dont go out and buy parts the sit down and do all the calculations, head on over to the mill shop and make part out of scratch if you really want to tune you rolla to be a mean street machine I would suggest that you start looking in to the theory of engine performance or joing Mechanics @ your school taking a car course over mail or on the internet. sure you might find bolt on parts such a cold air intake, or headers mabey even cams but thats just the tip of the ice berg when it comes to performance take your time and investigate as much as posible befrore you proceed. dont look at forums for your difinitive guide to all the questions you have. corollas are great cars nad are highly underestimated so stick with it mabey one day youll be able to smoke a Viper

Hey man,
I personally would like to congradulate u on your fondness of having an original car. everyone's got civics, jetta's, preludes, etc... but corolla's are where its at. To answer your question i don't know much about all the technical stuff, i'm like you starting out on my own rolla... but if your gonna give the car away anyways, i recommend buying parts that can be easily removed, if u catch my drift. Get cool, yet cheap accesories such as underbody neon (200$can.) or coloured side markers(20-30$) spoiler (anything) or if u really want to go for the gold, you can't take this shit off but get easy stuff like exhaust (400-500$can.) cold air intake (300-400$can.) these are the kind of things i got and it's not lookin to bad for me. I'm looking into a stage 3 turbo but i'm not sure if i can fit/afford all the custom work. that's about all i can think of for now.

P.S. if you want a spoiler for your car i have one that just might fit, it's an ugly yellow but painting it shouldn't cost you more than 20$, i'll sell it to ya for like 50$ (single wing, quite tall)

Talking Here is your solution

Okay man, the answer to your quandry is easily solved. All you have to do is NOT get rid of the car and you'll be all right. Just supe it up and drive it into the ground or total it, whichever comes first. If it is totalled, then you can just get the insurance monies off of it and apply it to your next car, which then you could sell down the road.:finger:
