Figured out how to turn off Auto Lights in 2000 Silverado

Push the Dome Light Override button 4 times in a row, you will hear a bong, push 4 more times to turn back on. I am not sure if this also turns off Daytime Running Lights or not.

Re: Figured out how to turn off Auto Lights in 2000 Silverado

On my 99 I permanently disabled the DRL's by pulling out the DRL relay in the electrical control center box under the hood. So far I can't find anything else effected by this alteration(although I don't have factory fog/driving lamps). I can still overide the AutoHeadlights sensor by pressing the dome overide button 4 times.

You can turn your headlights off on a 99? Thats damn near impossible. Was it because you pulled the relay?

I've tried almost everything possible to get my lights to go off, but nothing seems to work, except a kit that SCcustoms mentioned in another post.

Why do you all want to turn them off?

Re: Re: Figured out how to turn off Auto Lights in 2000 Silverado

jeverett - By pulling the DRL fuse only the DRL is totally disabled. The auto headlight still has to be disengaged by pushing the dome override switch 4 times (will get the "boing") each time the truck is re-started.
I like having the ability to kill the headlights without having to shut off the truck and set the emergency brake. Pushing the button will shut off the lights while the truck is running and without engaging the emergency brake.

Oh, sitting in the evening light waiting to see some wildlife, lights tend to suck. Sitting in the morning light watching wildlife, lights tend to suck. Sitting in the truck making out with the engine on to keep warm, lights tend to suck, oh wait, I am married now and have a house, don't need to do that last one.
