4 ohms, 2 wires?

Now that your here.........

I have an alpine sub that has 4 places for wires to connect, but I only have 2 wires to be connected to them and connected the two as they should be, and the amp is connected as it should be, but I don't get a power light on the amp. I have a wire tester and the light came on for all the wires. I tried my old amp and still got no power light. this is the only thing I can think to be wrong. Everything is hooked up according to the three manuals that i have (the deck, amp, and sub ones) but I cannot find the problem

any help would be appreciated

Here's what I have:
Pioneer deh-1000 deck
Alpine SWE-1041
Sony XM-280GTX amp (the 480 watt version)

All of which is in my 88 crx hf

4 connections? their should be only 3, one for the power, one for the ground, and one small wire for the turn on/off signal. maybe your getting confuse with the 4 speaker connections? it would be a lot better if u have a pic.

ok i can see the 4ohms, the 2 wires, but where is the lesbian?

j/k

yeah there should be
~ A large power cable connected to battery
~ A large ground cable grounded somewhere
~ A small wire going to the back of your deck, usually connects to the power antenna lead ( small blue wire in most) this is what turns the amp on and off when the deck is turned on and off.

Then all you have left is you speaker connections, and the signal cables.

Re: 4 ohms, 2 wires?

Everything is hooked up to the amp how it should be(I think), but i have no power light.

Yes i am talking about the 4 connectors to the speaker, i only have 2 wires, is that a problem?

Why don't i have power, all my wires are good (tested with wire tester) and they have electricity running through them, except the blue wire (labeled REM), but power is through it when the key is in the on position

Does the ground have to be directly on metal, or is it okay on a painted surface, would that make me have no power?

I'm just guessing here, but maybe you got a blown fuse somewhere. I have two fuses on my amp and when one blows(usually both will blow at the same time) my subs sound weak and strange. Hope this helps.

Problem solved:
The ground was why the power didn't come on, it was on a painted surface before, now it is fixed.

And as for it not hitting as hard as i want it to, I had to adjust the little knobs where all the wires are plugged in.

Thanks for all the help guys, I will be off enjoying myself as i go deaf now.

Re: 4 ohms, 2 wires? *lesbian*

I got a question for all you guys though, I get the idea that his sub has 4 terminals on it, but being the SWE 1041, they have a D at the end on DVC subs right? so then is the extra set of lreads from the SVC to help in the wiring of multiple subs?

Re: 4 ohms, 2 wires? *lesbian*

i don't think the extra terminals on the SVC are wired to anything. My previous audiobahns all had 4 terminals like they were DVC, where as they were actually SVC. I guess it's cheaper and easier to just mass produce the same basket, then to sit there and make 2 terminal baskets for SVC and 4 terminal baskets for DVC subs

since u seem really new to car audio, i just want to ask if u got ur amp bridged to your sub? this will give twice the wattage and in some amps even more.
