Tranny problem???

I have a 1999 Odyssey with 38,000 miles on it. It seems to shift gears
OK. However, once in awhile when I am accelerating, like on a ramp,
I feel a shudder underneath, when I lift my foot up off the accelerator.
Normal driving around town is allright, this problem seems to happen, only when I lift my foot off the accelerator after speeding up.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Re: Tranny problem???

Trans is probably taking a shit like all the rest of the Ody's & V6 Accords. It's too bad Honda didn't extend the tranny warranty for your year(10yr100K) Since it is such a know problem, bitch enough to American Honda & possibly get a replacement for "free" or 50/50 split.

From bulletin #02-062 dated Sept 2, 2003

BACKGROUND

In certain vehicles, a higher than normal number of automatic transmissions may have defects in material or workmanship that could cause premature wear or failure. To ensure that customers have adequate warranty coverage, American Honda is increasing the
warranty on the transmission and the torque converter to 7 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

All owners of 1999 Odysseys will be mailed a notification of the warranty extension. Owners of other affected vehicles were mailed the notification in October 2002.

If you have not received this notice feel free to contact your dealer and upon inspection of transmission and confirmation of the problem they can procede with the fix.

As you can see by the above date on the bulletin ... your vehicle actually IS covered by the bulletin now.
