Exhaust DB's?

I'm soon going to purchase a 1998 Civic EX Coupe.

Was wondering if anyone know of a website or something where i can find out how many DBL's the exhaust systems are for the civic?

I know for the WRX the Greddy Evo. Exhaust keeps you under 92 DB's
and in the state of CA if it's over 92 DB's you get a fix-it ticket...anyone know how to find out this info for specific cars?

thanks.

Re: Exhaust DBL's?

are you serious......some of those ricer canister exhausts can definetely get up there, and do you think that cops carry a db meter around?!?!?! if they think you're loud they'll give you a ticket, doesn't matter if you actually are over the limit or not.

Osiris: If you're really worried about getting a noise pollutioin ticket, ask around about what exhausts people have. I don't think there is a site that actually lists a certain exhausts DBs. The two quietest I can think of are the RS*R Exmag and Apex'i Worldsport. They both look great too.

I don't know about the cops in CA, but I ran into one here in KS with one. I pulled into the local Quick Trip and didn't realize there was a cop there. He was inside when he heard/saw me pull up. I had my radio blasting and reved up my engine. He asked me if he could check the DB on my exhaust with his new DB reader, looked like a cheap piece of junk though, and if I would he said he wouldn't give me a ticket, he said "research only". So I did and I was way over the legal limit without even engaging VTEC, so he said I didn't get to see what it was. So I guess point is don't buy a Hayame exhaust, that is what I HAD on my car, it is now a Flowmaster axle back. But GScivic7 is right about those 2 mufflers they are good quite ones. There are others but like he said just ask around and you will find the right one!

my friend has the Hiper exhaust and it's pretty loud. Not only that, but it comes out at an angle so the pipe hangs really low. He caught it on the lip of a sewer driving me back to school once and we had to rip the muffler off because one of the hooks had bent and we couldn't get it into the hanger
