me vs. current gen mustang GT

well last night i was driving home from my friends house. i was cruising when i saw this silver GT. i didn't pay much attention to him. but when we hit the toll booth i sorta guned it becuase i wanted to cut this slow ass ford taurus off becuase he was blocking my lane for hte last mile or so. anyways the mustang must've mis thought something and he was pacing me for like 2 miles. i had an idea that he wanted to race but by lookin at the driver he looked too old to be a street racer ( in hte mid 30's ) i speed up to 80 and he kept on pacing me and kept on acelerating, but he wasn't acelerating very fast from 80 so i wasn't 100% he wanted to race. then we finally locked eyes and i'm like oh shit. so he jumped 2 cars on me becusae i wasn't expecting anything and was still cruising. then i'm like fuck!!! he is racing!! so i downshifted to 4th, redlined 4th, passed him easily then poped into 5th back fired after i passed him by the time i cut off i was around 2-3 cars ahead and i was about to him my governor ( 120mph ) and i figured there was no point. anyways i was surprised at how easily i passed him. i just passed him like he how i would normally cut off a slow moving traffic. and yes it was a GT beucsae it had the GT wheels and the twin tail pipes. whether or not its a auto shouldn't matter too much from a roll at 80mph either.

It's quite believable, most late model GT's dyno at or below 215hp to the rear wheels. They are prolly also a bit heavier than your nissan...

they only dyno at less then 215 at the wheels? wow i thought they said those cars were underated. becuse i mean from what i heard from this forum. a good drive can get it to do 14.1 stock and that thing weights 3200lbs. so i think 260hp is alittle underated for that E.T. but judging fromw hat you said with only 215 at the wheels. i guess its dead on with the factory rating.

There was one on Horsepower TV last summer. I think it was a 2000ish GT. Stock it only pulled like 187rwhp on the dyno. I have heard of others getting as high as 210-215rwhp. I'm sure there are a few freaks out there, but generally speaking, that's what your lookin at...

you what some guy had the nerve to say to me in the other 240sx forums? he said that the guy in the stang wasn't racing for real beucsae his car is faster!! what an ass. i also forgot to mention that it was cold last night and that i was creeping alittle to 9.5-10psi ish and at that dyno session at 9.5 psi i was making 247whp. oh wellz.

That wasen't a 2000ish. I believe it was a 96. There is a big difference in performance in the first gen 4.6L compared to the current 4.6L. So 187 RWHP on a stock 96 in about right because they make 215 BHP. A 99-03 have 260 BHP, which amounts to about 218.4 RWHP.

Sorry guys, but a 99+ isnt going to dyno below 215 only if its an unhealthy pony. Autos usually dyno at around 220-225rwhp and the 5spds dyno at around 230-235 rwhp. Anything below that and go check your dealership because you got a bad running Stang.

Not calling BS, cause I don't really know, but I'd have to see some dyno sheets before buying into the 230-235hp thing... That's only like a 9-10% loss in the drivetrain, assuming they start at 260hp, and that seems like a low percentage loss to me. I could buy the 220ish hp thing though...

Unless they have more than 260hp from the factory... Which could also be the case...

About the Horsepower TV thing, thanks for the correction. I thought it was a later model 4.6. I thought it did seem to be pretty damn low for a newer one. I stand corrected...

There's a stock 99 GT in that link, that dynoe'd 213-214RWHP, and they were happy with it. They said it "defied" the car's 260HP crank-rating.
