Question Reduced Power Light

2003 Trailblazer LT with 6500 miles on it. While driving to work it appeared to cut off and coast. The Redueced Power light came as did all the others. I shifted into neutral and restarted the car and now the Service Engine Soon light stays on. THis happened today 1/8/03.
Anyone had a similar problem as this. I am going to take it to the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Do you have On-Star? If so calling will allow them to diagnose your computer to see what the problem is.

The problem more than likely lies in the fuel pedal sensors. There are two of them and if one is not registering correct the reduced power light will trip and it will enter limp mode. Take it to your dealership and have them hook it up to the diagnostic computer and check for these codes. More than likely that is the problem and they will order you new switches and cover it all under warranty.

No I don't have On Star.
I will be at the dealer in the AM and will report what they find.

Thanks

I took it in Friday and the codes were C111, Fuel pedal sensor, they could not recreate it as the Service Engine light had gone off. Saturday morning it happened again, so I left it with them as the light was back on. I left it with them. One thing I noticed was it happened in the morning on very cold days, 7 degrees and 16 degrees even though I let the vehicle warm up.

That's what I thought. Regardless of whether they can recreate it or not, they need to order you a new sensor and replace it. That is why they have computers to save codes. If it threw a code... it happened and they need to fix it. You need to call them and thell them to order the part and fix it. That's all there is to it. It's under warranty so just make it work. Back in the good ol' days they would have to recreate it, but not anymore. Sounds like you got your work cut out for you. Good luck.

Re: Reduced Power Light

They finally replace the Throttle Control Valve and all recalls outstanding. Took 3 days. I will never go to this dealership again. I had to call 4 times and threaten to contact the general manager before they called me back. But it is fixed now.

Re: Reduced Power Light

There are several OBII code scanners out there - some better than others. I bought a DiabloSport Hellion - at about $345 US. It also has the ability to read out while you are driving and comes in handy. Of course, you'll want someone else to read while you drive.
