Looking to buy 92 6 cyl Cummings TD Auto PU. What should I look at?
Guys,
The truck I’m looking at has been driven 316k miles. It has a good maintenance record, and in the past 3 years no evidence of heavy hauling, just a lot of HWY travel. After reading some posts here, I am concerned about the auto. transmission. What is the best way to test it? |

The first thing to do is see if you can get the maintnance records as determine if it has been properly maintained, that and make sure it runs through all of the gears properly. I don't have any first hand experience with the autos but I have never heard of one lasting longer than 80K, I have a 94 and a 92 with the five speed both lost there transmission at about 275K.
