Angry 95 Rodeo won't start

Tried to start 95 Rodeo this morning and it wouldn't turn over. Noticed it hesitate yesterday just after I started it but it ran ok afterwards. It acts like it will start but doesn't. I don't know much about cars. I've recently become a widow with three kids and don't have the money for expensive repairs. Is there anything me or my father can do to get my car running again? The kids have to get to school. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: 95 Rodeo won't start

having same problem with mine, mechanics told me it "jumped time", if you know anyone that can work on timing belts, crankshaft position and cam position ask them to help, it is not an easy job if you don't have a clue as to what i am talking about. Mine would turn over just fine but it was like it was out of gas, sound familiar? Anyway, had my crank and cams realigned only for it to jump again, Autozone sold me the wrong belt!!!!! Putting mine back together this weekend, keeping fingers crossed, changing out the crankshaft position sensor, the tensioner, idler pulley, and most definitely the belt. Is yours a 3.2 ltr V-6 Engine with Single overhead cam(sohc) like mine? let me know....you can e-mail me at [email protected] and I will do my best to help you try to figure it out.

Re: 95 Rodeo won't start

Are you sure the battery isnt dead? Mine acted like that for about 3 days and then I went out to start it one morning and it wouldnt even attempt to turn over. I had worried about the alternator, but it ended up just being a battery. So $80 later I was back on the road ...

In reply to your above message, for me the battery was brand new, checked it, the starter, the alternator, etc.... took it to the shop, it had "jumped time", all because Autozone sold me the wrong belt.

Thats odd .. I havent had any problems with AutoZone .. Now Nappa on the other hand ...

From what I've heard from repair shops, once your timing belt is thrown, you might as well just scrap the whole car .... I made sure I got mine done as quickly as possible when I started nearling 120,000 (as it has to be done every 60k) .... Of course, now mine isnt working, but it isnt because of that ... about 5 things on mine went out in the same week ...

Hope you can get yours fixed !

The only reason a vehicle's engine will go if the timing belt breaks or jumps time is if it is an "interference engine", mine, thank goodness is the only Isuzu engine, aside from the new 3.5ltr that they just came out with, a 3.2 that is not an "interference engine". I know now that when I go to buy my next vehicle with overhead cams, to find out whether or not it is an "interference engine", if it is, I will not purchase it, knowing what can happen with timing belt failure.
