Lightened Flywheel for an Accord
I'm just curious to hear some views on getting a lightened flywheel.
I know they make the revs drop/rise faster, make it easier to bog off the line, etc. I also know that they will improve acceleration, more in the low gears than higher gears. I would just like to know how "streetable" they are. I'm going to be changing my clutch sometime in the near future, and I was looking at throwing a lightened flywheel in at the same time to save labor. If they make it too difficult to drive, I'm not going to do it though. I don't have very much done to my car right now, but since I need a new clutch anyways... Thanks for any help.

the motor tends to vibrate more at idle with a lightened flywheel.

Is that a major problem or just an inconvenience? Also, would you say that the benefits outweigh the small problems?
Thanks for the reply. |

just an inconvenience.
i own a 94 EX... and would never consider dropping one into mine due to the waste of money. you wont see any real benefit cuz... your motor will wanna race to redline but there isnt much power left up there anyways. two schools of thought... spend all you can to make it better, or get a better motor/car. it's all on you... but i recommend getting yourself into an H22. i pretty much lost all hope on mine since i got my Prelude, but will probably drop an H22 into mine once i finish tweaking the Lude. |
