Question Are you a logical thinker?

Do you think logically? Or do you not? Explain your answer the best you can.

I tend to think in a logical fashion. I think about things before I do them most of the time. And what can/could happen if I choose a certain path. I also occasionally go into such detail about things my friends and i may be discussing that they usually don't know what to say when i'm done talking or get lost b/c I've gone way over their heads.

Interesting question.

I own a performance oriented repair shop.Deal with 9 and 10 second cars on a regular basis.Requires VERY logical thought processes;step 1 leads to step 2 to step 3 UNLESS step 1 does this... very much computer-like to make it work.

Also a very difficult thing to learn.I studied art and design, where it's more feeling and intuition rather than logical visualization.Took a while to really get into doing things "by the numbers" and not just dig in and get dirty;that sort of thing takes you from consistent 13s down to 9s in a little over a year.Mostly due to actually THINKING,not just DOING.

Like you,it seems that when I'm discussing projects with their owners I get going WAAAAY faster than they can keep up.These are just normal people that want their car worked on.They work in banks, factories, whatever.I work on cars all day, everyday,so I forget that not everyone has the same experience and depth of concern over what I'm doing. They don't usually care,"just make it go fast and don't tell me the details."

But,there are some out there who are like-minded;just seems like they're few and far between.

Re: Are you a logical thinker?

Depends on your definition of logic.

Re: Are you a logical thinker?

Yes, I do. Prolly why I want to become an auto tech. Anyone in a tech field needs to think logically IMO. Artistic people, not so much. Girls don't have the proper gene for logic.

Re: Are you a logical thinker?

I would say yes. I think in logical sequence and can always explain the ordering of these thoughts to others. If that equates to logic, then yes.

I would say yes and this is why.

When my wife and I were statistics class together we were both having trouble so we went to her step dad for help. She could just do the problem and go on to the next. However, I needed to fully understand how and why I got to a specific answer.

If its a complex problem in school then I think logically...I try to fully understand it. If its really complex then I logically cheat off the girl sitting next to me.

Re: Are you a logical thinker?

I believe I do. I think that's part of the reason I originally went into and got a bachelors degree in computer programing.

... Not in any way. I don't know why, but I lack logic and 'common' sense, it's just the way I am.

Re: Are you a logical thinker?

I like to think that I am. When I want to do something, I think about what I need to do, what the best way to do it is, and so on and so forth. I like to know everything I can about what I am going to do or am doing.

Interesting question. Logic is the study of reasoning which has nothing to do with facts or reality. What reasoning being used by someone jumping out of an airplane is not logical to me.

Re: Are you a logical thinker?

Sorry, but Iam am not 'hard wired' like a computer.I can [and have] come up with different answers to the same questions when they are presented in different circumstances. It's part of being a human, rather than being a Vulcan.

Yes, but then again there has only been one "no" so far in this thread. Typical response.

Re: Are you a logical thinker?

Let me answer one question with another. In the grand scheme, need one be "logical" in an illogical world? Society is like chaos theory itself. Patterns of logic, of order within a chaotic framework. Hell, even these forums exhibit this concept on a smaller scale with our fine moderators (admitted logical thinkers or not) forced to maintain the order in the face of the auto-enthusiastic masses. Damn....I just blew my mind....

Re: Are you a logical thinker?

In terms of thinking in a rational way - collating facts, using knowledge to examine possibilities and then evaluating them to come up with a decision - then that is how I 'think.'

On the other hand, I don't always act rationally - then are times when even if you know the logical outcome but you act irrationally. Especially when it comes to faith or caring for someone else.

Call it a personality flaw or a weakness - there are plenty of times and experiences that should suggest that I could or should know better.
