two tickets in one day

So on the way to the mall i get clocked in going 73 on the ramp, i know i was wrong, and i deserved the ticket, i was pretty heated after that, and the cop was a real asshole. so i decided to be an asshole right back (not a smart move) and ask him a question that may have implied that he was racist. something about cops not putting the correct race on your ticket to cover up any inconsistencies. so he tries to get in my face, kinda funny b/c he was on the passenger side, and my window doesn't open. so this cop is yelling at me, in my passenger's face. i sign the ticket, and go off. on my way back, i bet pulled over again, not by the same cop, and he says im goin 54 in a 40, but i was definitely not, b/c i just got a ticket, i was driving slow, and there's no way i could be speeding, since i was following one those big moving trucks. this guy is nicer, but im still pissed off. not saying the cops are racsist, but they first one probably radioed in to another cop to pull me over for something because he didn't like my attitude. so i just sent in the tickets, the first is going on my record, and im going to contest the second one, is there anyone whose been to court for a traffic ticket? i really need some help on how im gonna do this?

If the cop clocked you at 54 you can contest it, typically radar guns hit whatever the biggest thing in the radar path (meaing the moving van). If that was the case, technically the cop clocked the van and not you. I got out of a tcket with that

You may have implied that he was racist but you're not saying the Police are racist?

Grow the fuck up.

I can't help but wonder why people speed, get tickets, and then bitch about the police officer who was only doing his job.....

My roomates gotten two tickets in one day before. And on a seperate occasion he was pulled over twice within 15 minutes. That shit was funny. But got warnings on both of those.

But don't be a dickhead when you know you were in the wrong. It'll only get worse for you.

1. Be thankful that you live somewhere warm/dry enough that you can get up to such foolishness. If I tried 73 on a ramp, I would be sucking on a snowy guardrail right now.

I don't think he's bitching about the cop doing his job so much as HOW he was doing his job, Ie in an unprofessional assholish manner..

I was talking in general....there are so many threads about people getting a ticket and whinging.

At least blasian_man had the maturity to admit he deserved the ticket, that I can respect.

well i do have common sense, the roads were dry when i was speeding, now i don't go over 20 in the city, and stay under 35 on the highway. now it takes an hour to get home from work. crazy weather in WA

Re: two tickets in one day

Just by showing up at court might be good enough. Usually the cop won't even bother showing up and the ticket will get dismissed. You can also enter a plea bargain to get the offence changed from speeding to unsafe driving. You'll still hvae tpo pay but you wont get the points on your license that comes with being 14 over. The unsafe driving ticket is expensive though.

Re: two tickets in one day

Check this out http://www.motorists.org/issues/tick...ld_a_case.html there is alot of helpful info there.

p.s man I feel ya I got 5 tickets and went to jail all in the same night. Got off all the charges but had $2600 in attorney fees. But clean record and for the record I am not guilty I was charged for another person's actions. Guilty by association.

This used to often be true. However, depending on the department, going to court for officers is not as much of a pain in the ass as it used to be. Usually, officers can go "on the clock" to court, rather than having to handle court dates on their days off. (As they often used to do.) I'm not sure I'd call it 50/50, but here in OC, California, I'd say the odds of an officer turning up in court is probably 60% show / 40% no-show. If you pissed him off, it's probably 95/5!

In most jurisdictions, shitty though the situation may be, you're a source of revenue. The odds of the ticket being dismissed even if you're dead right are unlikely. It would have to be a glaring error or case of "prejudicial enforcement" to get thrown out.

If he got you on radar, you need to ask for the calibration charts for the radar device. You also need to know whether or not the unit was properly calibrated at the start of his shift. (I believe some of the newest radars do not need daily calibrations prior to getting readings so this may not be applicable, but I'm not 100% sure.) Ask him what the department procedures are for calibration, and if he followed those procedures exactly. If he "clocked" you, all the speedo's in police cars are certified to be accurate to a given range - ask for the documentation for the speedo in his car. Also, ask how long he paced you prior to initiating the traffic stop.

That's about all I can suggest, but the basic gist is to hope the cop doesn't show up.
