? about swaping motor and transmission

i have a 89 supra turbo and am gonna get a new motor for it cause the old one went bad. Im also thinking of swapping in a 5 speed transmission in place of my automatic. has anyone done these swaps at home or by themselves and if so, was there a lot of problems. i know the best thing is to take it to the shop but im sure its gonna cost a lot of money. does anyone know average numbers how much it will cost to get a new motor and 5 speed transmission at a local mechanic shop? any price would help. thanks for listening

For things like this doing it yourself is the best thing you can do, not only will you learn something about your car, but hopefully you'll want to learn more/do more in the future. Tons of people have done this swap and it has been covered atleast a million times. Price will obviously depend on where you go, what you get, and how good you can bargain.
