Question about Christianity

Does the Christian religion believe if you do not believe in Jesus or the Christian God , you are damned to hell? Just wondering because what about all of the other religions who people are very faithful to? Like all of the people that are Hindu, Buddhist, etc? Are they damned because they do not believe their god and not yours?

It says in the bible if that if you dont turn your life over to Jesus that you will go to hell. There is a verse "I am the way, the truth and the life, noone comes to the father except threw me. John 14:6

Re: Question about Christianity

Yup. In the Christian faith you go to hell unless you've accepted Jesus as your savior. It says somewhere in Genesis I believe that God is a jealous god and wont tolerate any worshipping of other gods.

That is a very good theological question.
I recall an old joke, where a Catholic and a protestant arrived in Hell. The devil said "You may be wondering why the both of you are here. Well, some bad news for you both, the Jews had it right.

Personally, you question is fundamental proof of the mass of illogic and inconsistency that is organised religion. It is very contradictory in nature, and absoulutely impossible to follow the trachings of one religion wighout contradicting the teachings of another.
So, why is this so?
IMO, religion is fundamentally no different than any other orgainisation, be it a nation, a corporation or a labour union. An organised religion seeks to grow and expand its influence over an ever growing number of people, all working towards a common goal, as dictated by that organisation. Its about power and influence over people, which has been a goal of humanity for as long as history has been recorded.

Now, you will find, following in this thread, every religious zealot is about to spout forth their own propeganda to explain why my logical argument is an affront to their god and is wrong. And you know what? The more the religious protest, the more they prove I am right.

Re: Question about Christianity

In the Koran it says there is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet.

Which is right, the Bible or the Koran?

Re: Question about Christianity

You must acept Jesus as your savior in order to be saved. Your faith in him saves you. NOT, repeat, NOT your religion. Christian, lutheran, cathlic, whatever you claim as your RELIGION (methods in which you exercise your faith) your faith (ideas you believe in) is what saves or condems you.
Most people confuse these two.
I'm choosing to stop here, becase what i believe is private. As far as other people and their beliefs, i would not want to, or choose to offend anyone here based on their religion or beliefs. Nor will i start a holy war.

jay@af "Which is right, the Bible or the Koran?"
If you said this to start a fight, thats sad.

If that was an honest question, I suppose that question will be answered one day. Until then one can only choose to believe or not to believe. Each book contradicts the other and if we knew for certin which was correct, we wouldnt be having this discussion now.

It really doesn't matter, it's what you believe. I grew up with a friend from Bangladesh, and he was Muslim. I know I believes were different, but it didn't matter to us as friends. We were still interested in another's religions. I sort of viewed Allah as the same as our Christian God, except they had another name for him. Muhammed seemed like Jesus, but a completely different person.

Do you see any problem about what you just said?

Part right. Religion is also about a group of like minded people to come together to worship the way they want. The rest I see no problem with.

Actually you probably won't see that at all. What you said wasn't that big of a deal to tell the truth.

I say believe in whatever the hell you want. My best friend is Hindu, so why would he go to Christian Hell when he dies? He wont, because in Hinduism you keep being reincarnated based on your karma until you have reached spiritual enlightenment. I dont think that just because you dont hand your life over to Jesus that you're going to hell. I dont think that there is any 'right' religion or 'wrong' religion. Believe in what you want.

Have you ever contributed anything worth reading to any thread on any board? Seriously....I'm sorry, but I haven't read anything from your post that can even remotely be confused with a useful or original thought, statement or idea.

I mean if you really have something to contribute to the thread that's great. I would love to hear something of substance in your post. In fact I look forward to it.

Re: Question about Christianity

Oh no not you again... I've said plenty. The only thing is you have no sense of humor, which is what I try to inject into all my arguments. It makes it fun for me.

This topic is the most talked about thing when it comes to Christianity and all that fun stuff. In my opinion, you must come to Christ in order to "gain" eternal salvation. Life on earth is soley for one purpose...to live for God in everything you do and you should live your life for him. It all simply makes sense to me, why should it be so difficult to live a certain way or do a certain thing like most "religions". Really, it should be easy and make sense there is no reason for it to me difficult. That is my opinion. Take Care!!

You should have a sense of humor about just about everything except God, its just too serious to make fun of.
