On 2000 and up I think you need to disable the heat sink relay or whatever the hell it is.

My 98 only required removing the fuse in the glove box.

Yeah, put the fuse back. The instructions Rip linked to are great. Be careful though, the wiring harness can be hard to remove. If you don't plan to ever use the DRLs again you can always remove the heat sink altogether. It's held in place by a single bolt......(10mm socket IIRC)......accessible from under the dash.

Re: drl

The HeatSink does not boder him where it is. If he wants to sell the car in the future he can renable the DRL feature. The question is why the clicking sound. THis car looks just my 98 and in my car taking the DRL fuse off was enough. What is the clicking sound related to?

Yeah, I left mine in place too, just in case. If I ever sell my car or trade it I'll hook the drl's back up. I only mention removing it because some race freaks want to shed every pound they can.

I'm not sure why the electrical system goes crazy on the '01 -'03 cars when you remove the fuse....but it does. And it seems to affect some circuits you wouldn't expect.

I disabled mine a while back by unplugging the harness at the heat sink. I've had no problems what so ever. BTW, my car is an '02.

Re: drl

Great information guys!

Is there a cable that connects to this heatsink that looks similar to a S-video cable or remote cable for a cd-disc changer. It feels like their is a cable missing on the other side (side opposite of wire harness shown in photos). I haven't been able to locate it yet, but with nicer weather finally approaching, I may be able to really dig into the dash area.

I brought my car to a AAm.. in EHT, NJ and besides always having something new fail or magically break, my DRL are not working.

They claim none of their ASE certified mechanics know how to disable the DRL!

It took me roughly 20 mins... mostly due to the fact people loosely interchange the automatic lights and the DRL, but I found the info online! The problem is most of my searches and any info in AllData on DRL relate only to the automatic lamps or NRL (). Besides that, it wasn't that hard to find.

*Rated this a 5... thanks for the photos, I was wondering what this heatsink was for.

PS

Under the steering column is a antitheft shock type box... is that suppossed to be in a certian location? It has a harness attatched but is just tucked away under the steering column.

Thanx to all who contributed!
