Cannot get interior lights to go off

My interior lights on my ford f150 (2001) will not turn off and the dash says "door ajar". All doors are closed and the light switch on the dash is not on. Plus, all the interior lights are switched off. I have even slammed each door shut and still the message or the lights will not go off. I cannot find where the door switch is (in the door jam). Please help before my battery goes dead. Thanks.

I had a 99 F250 Super Duty that had the same problem, I did some research and found out that if you spray a lubricant like WD-40 in the door latch, that should solve your problem. It did mine. Hope this helps.

light stays on

It is the door latch, I had the same problem on my 97 f150. I took mine to the dealer and they told me to take the door panel off and clean the latch, its dirt build up, but I don't recomend wd 40 because it will attract more dirt.
