mostly electrical problems....help needed!!

Just bought a 93 SLi auto. Love the car but got a whole host of problems & questions that need answering.

What the heck is S4 and why is the light flashing on my dash from time to time?

The passenger window only goes down an inch at a time and then stops. Then you end up pressing the button 40 odd times to get it to the bottom, then the same on the way up.

The heater blower seems to be seized up. I replaced the blown fuse and the fan gets hot but wont spin. Is this repairable or do I need a new fan unit.

None of the interior lights come on when you open the doors. The lights in the door panels come on when you unlock the car but then fade out. When you lock the car these lights flash 2 or 3 times, is this some kind of alarm. ( I only have a key for the lock no remote although there does seem to be two sensor's inside the car.

I think it may be a common problem but the tappets go through phases of being quite noisy then going back to being silent, any clues?

Last one I can remember for now, sometimes the speedo cuts out while driving along only to spring back up to speed when it feels like it.

Cheers for any help.........

Err, is that a 200 hatchback sli you have? The interior light is probably down to the black switches on the B pillar. the doors move an arm on them when you shut/open them making or breaking contact. They are about £6.00 for a pair I beleive from Rover or can maybe be cleaned up. They do break down from time to time. On my old Coupe, the tappets became loud when the oil was low, it kind of acted as an early warning for me that it wanted oil. Sounds like the dashboard binnacle may have been out possibly and the speedo cable is not clicked into position properly. As for the other problems I am at a loss but can direct you to a forum that may be more capable of dealing with those queries. pm me if you want details as I guess I should not advertise it here.

Cheers and good luck
