Thinking about buying one of these...

Alright, there's 2 rsx's for sale near me with some stuff done to them. Not too sure if they're a good price of not, I'd also have to drive them first, but if anyone can just give me an idea of which one would be better or if neither would be good, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

Re: Thinking about buying one of these...

The second one doesnt look like such a great deal. I would go with the first. You could probably get the price down a little, too, even with the upgrades.
I do like the fact that autotrader makes a point to tell you that this car is gasoline fueled- just so you dont put fruit punch, diesel or rocket fuel in there....

I like the first one more too. The second guy already lowered his price by like $500 too. I'll have to check it out and see if it runs good and stuff. Thanks for your input! Yeah, pepto bismal, pepsi, and vegetable oil probably wouldn't be good for the car either...lol

How much do you think I could get the first guy down to, or how much should I offer, it's $17,500. Let me know what you think!

Re: Thinking about buying one of these...

The Kelley Blue Book value on a stock RSX in a private sale is 16,950. 17,500 is a good deal considering the extensive upgrades. You could probably get it for 16-16,500. I think with the i/h/e the warrantee is void. You can use that as a bargaining chip...
I bought my 2003 Type S for 17,500 with 13K miles. So you could also go that route, then upgrade...it's up to you. That's a nice car though. I'm not a big fan of that kit, but the engine mods sound good. Careful with that CAI in PA, though!

Well,

Don't do it! Go for a Type S.

My brother in law and I looked at it online last night and he told me I should buy a new one stock then do my own upgrades. Cause the kid probably beat the car with the engine and stuff, that's what my brother in law does. I kinda like the stock look too without that body kit. So I decided I'll probably just buy a stock and do my own stuff to it.

Nice. It's more fun to build your own car anyway- and then, like you said, at leat youll know if it was beat on, it was your own fault. Are you thinking stock base or Type S?

Yeah it'll be fun working on it with all my boys that help me! We were looking last night and I'm think just base since it's a few thousand less. I know type S is faster and better and 6-speed but for what I'll be using it for, it's not really necessary. My boyfriend's is a type S so at least if I wanna faster ride, I'll just go with him! I wasn't thinking I'd do a lot of engine work to it, maybe just an exhaust or something. Then just do some stuff for the look like lower it and put wheels on it, maybe tint the windows. I'd buy the car with the add on body kit it has with the wing. There were 2 other cars we were checking out, the mazda 5 speed protege and the subaru wrx (they look similar). We decided the wrx is pretty nice stock too. I'm just tired of my car already, only after a year and a half and wanted to get something new! Right now I have a black 96 dodge avenger. It's automatic though...I tinted the windows, have 2 ten inch subs in the trunk and put a remote start in it. Nothing much but just for a little fun. But now I'm sick of it after putting a $500 water pump in it last year, and it almost breaking down the other week! I'm ready for a NEW car...

If you want a new car for cheap, check out the dodge neon srt-4. faster than any of the cars listed so far, and you could afford brand new.

sure...its a neon (looks ugly still,) but u can't argue really w/ a sub 14 second car thats under 20k brand new.

No thanks, I don't like neons, they are ugly. Doesn't matter if the car is fast stock, I can upgrade it whenever I want. Money isn't really a problem with me either, but thanks for the input!

Re: Thinking about buying one of these...

It's so goddamned unfortunate that a Dodge Neon can outperform many compacts out there...wtf?!

unfortunate? i think its great that dodge finally is catching on (like many other companies) that the sport compacts are popular. its keeps the competition that much higher, which means companies we favor (honda) SHOULD put out even better cars to compete even more.

it really does jus help everything...its a great car, i have no complaints w/ it except for its looks. awesome car.

Re: Thinking about buying one of these...

No, I agree with you- but it's embarrassing/humbling to be blown out by a NEON. It's like being smoked by a VW Beetle with a standard console mounted flower vase.
