Painting Question about my real car.

Hi, i know that is not the forum, but i'm getting into modeling and is the only forum that i'm subscribed where i think somebody can answer my question...
Well my problem is that i got a small scratch ( size of a head of a spoon ) on the front Bumper of my white Mitsubishi Eclipse. My question is... i don't want to spent a lot of money to repaint my front bumper for a small scatch and i was thinking if i use an airbrush if it will work, if it does, how long it will take to dry, what's the best kind of paint i can use? and any other kind of advice will be appreciated.

I kid you not I touch up nicks and scratches on my car the same way I paint model cars.

you need to get a dupli-color spray for your car.. spray the paint in a bottle and airbrush it on to the repair area. after that you just polish it just like you polish your models.

if the scratch is deep just fill it with primer to get a level finish first.

For a scratch that big personally I wouldnt do it myself but then I have very high standards for my car. At least get your paint matched by a professional spray painter, there is about a million different shades of white on cars if you look closely and it could look pretty bad if your not careful to get the color match closely.

a scratch that size is nothing.. you take it to a shop and they would ask to paint the whote bumper and charge you several hundred dollars.

maybe you can post a picture and I would tell you if I would do it myself. Ive done worse. when I got my car used the edge of the passengar door was pretty messed (somebody opened the door whitout looking first) up and the dealer just put touch-up paint over it. of course the rust started to form and the paint started to fall off. I had to remove the paint, sand off the rust, primed the metal, and painted it using my airbrush.

after the repair you absolutely cannot see the repair. and Ive done stone chips, a door scratch (somebody opened his door against mine), another door edge (six inches of paint scratched off to the metal), a fender scratch to the metal again, no problem.

let me tell you that touching up my car is 100 times easier than painting and polishing a model car body.

btw my car is white too..

sometimes even I have problem finding where the old repair spots are. I have to look at the paint at a severe angle under certain lighting condition to see the very minute difference in tint between the new clear coat and the old clear coat to see where the edge is to locate the repair.

duplicolor sells touch up paint in pen or brush form, maybe that will help.
