Question 1988 Corolla engine swap

I recently bought a 1988 Corolla DLX and i need more power! Does anyone know if it is possible to swap w/e i have with a 4AGE? Or if not is it possible to get anything better than what i have? Please let me know.

Re: 1988 Corolla engine swap

What country is it from? Pics? What is it running now? If it's a 4AC or similar, yes a 4AGE is quite a good swap.

Re: 1988 Corolla engine swap

In that case - you have a multitude of swaps available to you. the 4AFE was just a 4AGE set up for economy rather than power.

Without changing too much - you can choose from a 4AGZE supercharger swap (than swap sc for turbo for REAL power), a sweet 20V swap or just a plain Jane high comp. 4AGE.

Re: 1988 Corolla engine swap

Not much. Depends which engine you want and their availability in the states.

If I were talking purely about engine cost in Australia - as low as $us300 for a nice rebuilt 100kW 4AGE smallport.

Re: 1988 Corolla engine swap

Your local wrecker's or importers. Try to get a ful half cut. That way you can get some other goodies like the dash (with correct KMs) and the front brakes etc.
