Quacks/questionable forum

I guess this would go in "cars in general," but I'll leave that to our fearless leader (that's you, igor).

I think it's about time we had a forum dedicated specifically to quackery. It's a huge problem in the automotive world today. So many people fall victim to these false claims, especially the poor souls who think engineering is just a deck on the Enterprise. Posts about questionable "power boosters," "fuel savers," etc., might end up in engineering/technical, or a million other places where people would not necessarily be looking for them.

With a quack forum, those with questions about a new product could ask about them, link to their respective websites, and give as much info as is known about the product. Anyone who has used the product can then give their experiences, or the technically-minded can give a best guess as to whether or not it's crap. Also, anyone who has just found out that something is garbage can post a warning so nobody else wastes their money on false promises.

I hasten to mention the Direct Power System fiasco, but I think we need to remember just how important this issue is. A lot of us got fleeced; for $263, that must've been one expensive fuse.

One downside: the moderator would have to watch the forum carefully to keep the quacks themselves from using the forum to peddle their snake oil. I'm not sure who to nominate for moderator; a tech junkie would be good, perhaps texan?

Anybody who wants to campaign (harass) for this forum is welcome and encouraged.
