1996 SL2 4 door coupe
The key mechanical side works fine. It's the remote pull handle under the drivers seat that will not work. Gas Tank cover pull handle works fine. It appears to be electrical. I have reseated and traced my wires. All seem OK. The Chilton book I have (62300) does not show any remote trunk release circuits. Has anyone ever experienced this? Does anyone have a circuit diagram they can share? Any ideas on troubleshooting? Thanks in advance. Chewie ;-) |

Re: Trunk latch won't open - Remote Pull Handle
dude, its not electrical, it should be the cable, check where the latch it, you will see a cable, if you dont, then someone or something took it out, check on the left sicde, inside of the trunk if you see a ROLLED UP CABLE if its not connected, then it should be, there if it is, then just hook it up

The trunk lid was slammed on bulky cargo which knocked the release cable out of allignment. It looks like a black box behind the license plate and it needs to be rotated back into position (effectively shortening the cable).

ok, brfore you do anything. make sure that valet mode is not enabled. there is a red switch on the trunk latch. if it is in the lock position, you can only open the trunk with the key.
