Upgrades from stock?
Ok, on my 98 GSR I just purchased it is bone stock, I mean the guy didn't even put in an aftermarket alarm or audio. I need some advice on what to do and what has proven most effective for you guys. I am planning on doing stuff in the order of Suspension, Brakes, Engine, Body.
Suspension: So for I have considored Coilovers or airbags I'm not sure on either if anyone has bags if I'd like some feed back Brakes: Not too sure, been thinking big brake kit but wondering what'll fit in there, just put in 18" rims. Engine: Standard I/H/E, I'm set on a turbo but which one would you recommend? Also if I'm putting a turbo in should I swap the motor out in favour of something else? A friend recommended a H22 but I'm not too sure on what the compression is. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys. |

Re: Upgrades from stock?
okay, you got a GS-R why would you want to swap the motor. If you do a turbo, you won't need I/H, and I would get a exaust made by the same people that manufactured your turbo. For turbos, I would go with Greddy, with a greddy sp exaust. For the brakes, just put better pads on there and call it done(when do you really max out your braking??) for the suspention do you want a firm or soft ride, and ayso do you want it to be adjustabe or do you not want to fool with it? and I wouldn't do anything to the body unless the body needed fixed, then I would upgrade the broken parts...

Re: Upgrades from stock?
The reason I thought about swapping was the compression ratio for the turbo if it was more turbo-friendly. Also I'm not going to be doing turbo right away and that was why I was thinking I/H for now. I live in Ontario, Canada so I'd like to have my suspension adjustable so I could raise it if there was snow but I would like a firm ride and I've heard that some bags give a slushy ride. But as for body I'm getting the JDM type R conversion to the body but no body kits. As for brake pads I don't know because at the drag strip after my run I have a habit of trying to get the first turn off thus riding the brakes a little but I'll considor it. Thanks.

if ur going turbo, an h22 isn't exactly the best motor (unless u plan on resleeving the motor etc...)
stick w/ the b18c1 motor and go from there. i understand u have big plans, but start small and see where u end up. if ur going to turbo the b18c1, i'd suggest also building the motor a bit. lower compression pistions, new rods etc would all help keep the motor intact for higher boost numbers. for suspension, i'd suggest either a tein or jic set-up. that'd be a sweet upgrade from the soft gsr suspension. PM jackassi for more info on suspension (he know's his ish...). u can find him in the street/track section a lot.

Definitely get a set of true coilovers(tien like KrNx said would be good). I like the JDM type r front and no body kit idea. You have 18s, which IMO from what ive seen, doesnt always look too good(not to mention sluggish especially if you want speed), but maybe you pulled it off. You can fit AEMs big brake kit in there, all they require are 17s. N/A the exhaust size Id recommend is 2.25, if you'd rather just go turbo now, then get a 3 inch exhaust and building your own kit would save you a lot of money. Then you wont have to worry about getting rid of your (hopefully) dc sports/ jdm ITR/ quality brand header and intake (just make sure its got a K&N filter and is the right size piping. Definitely keep your GSR engine.

Re: Upgrades from stock?
Ok, thanks, you're right about just going turbo now. I have 18-in gold 7 spokes and I think they look ok although I saw some which just didn't look right and made the car look like I jacked it up. Later on if I change the colour I'll look into 17's thanks for the ideas guys I appreciate it.

Re: Upgrades from stock?
sounds like you like to hit the dragstrip. I personally wouldn't get the bags if you're dragging alot.
I also live in Ontario Canada, the roads are crap. i dunno about the longevity of those bags in a slammed integra at below zero temps (since you're talking about driving in snow). Get something more durable for where you live is what i say. Coilovers all the way if you want something to last. |

Re: Upgrades from stock?
That's a good point I think I will go with coil overs I looked into it and I think I'll choose the Teins I've heard good things about them. Thanks a lot.

Re: Upgrades from stock?
Rofren Brake Pads!!! These are the only pads you should use on your vehicle. You do not need a kit, these pads will increase your braking performance like you won't believe!! They have low dust and last a long time. However, they are hard to get, the only place I know of is www.eurobraketech.com call the toll free 866 number and ask for David.
