ball joints

I think i need new ball joints. but does that mean getting all new control arms, or can i just press out the old ball joints and press in the new ones?

no...
acually, you could swap the a-arms with those off of a VW rabbit, if it is cheaper than new balljoints, because they are one in the same.

thats what i was hoping. I had to get new control arms for my BMW, those things are friggin expensive.

no because in 1985.5 the 944 lsot the heavy VW a-arms and aquired lighter cast aluminum a-arms with the balljoints built in.

If you need ball joints for the aluminum arms just do a search on Google. Maybe something like "Porsche 944 ball joint kit" or similar. Someone out there makes kits to rebuild them I think

Porsche put out a technical bulletin about ball joints being damaged from excessive lowering of the 944.

I can't find the link right now.

If your 944 still has the early steel arms the ball joints will unbolt,if its been updated to 86- alloy arms then ball joints kits are available
