chevy 5.7 v8
I was given the oppurtunity last night to by a brand new from the factory 5.7 liter v8 engine. I believe those are the LS1 engines. He only want 4400 for it and it has never been used. My friend said he bought it and was planning on dropping it in his 78 but then decided to sell his 78, well his wife did at least. Should I buy it at 4400 or can i find it new cheaper elsewhere?

Re: chevy 5.7 v8
Did he specifically say it was an LS1???
Chevy has made a lot of 5.7 liter engines. Just a few are the L98, LT1, LS1, LS6, and those are just the newer ones. Many other 350's have been produced throughout the years... |

Re: chevy 5.7 v8
yeah man, chevy is still making the old style small block. so it could be a brand new, old style small block. find out for sure. cuz im pretty sure you can get the 385hp fastburn crate engine for less than 4K, in fact, most crate engines from gmpp are less than 4K unless its a big block or like an LS6 i think. id look into what your buying, and not go on assumption.
