Water in spare tire well

I'm located in Ohio (home of the everlasting rainstorms) and lately i've been having a problem with water collecting in my spare tire well in the hatch. Last time i bailed it out, there was more than an inch in the well. Once again, i can hear it sloshing around in the back- sounds like a miniature ocean living in my hatchback. All of the seals are good for the doors, and there is no evidence of water on the carpeting. Where is this coming from? The only thing i can think of is that it is splashing up from the rear wheels and through a break in the body pan- but i see no obvious breaks or holes. There is nary a bit of rust visible on the body- it's a peach, very well taken care of. I'm totally lost... has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas? i'd like to hide a 4-ch amp for my soon-to-arrive polk speakers in there, but not if it's going to drown!

this happned to me on my 2door. check your tailights. For some reason honda sucks for this, when i poured water onto my taillights i watched it and in my 2door it had a nice little path to follow to my spare tire. check that. also to make sure its not the tires spittin the water up. when it rains go out and check (but dont drive your car) ya know.

I've got a 99 hatch and I have the same problem. I have never been able to locate the source of the leak. I even had a family member sit in my hatch while I soaked the car with a hose to no avail. You would think Honda would have addressed the problem if so many owners have the problem.

ya it was a wicked pain in the ass, its just the fact that the factory tailights leak. its dumb. Im interested to see if he tried what i said and see if thats the problem. I suggest for you too to open up your hatch
and rip off the sidings in the trunk and pour water on your tailights and see if its coming in through there.

Re: Water in spare tire well

What i did was use Silicon selant , its messy but it works.get a gallon of water and keep pouring it over it and squirt it where its leaking.
