Making My Motor Into Type R?

Now I know a guy have already asked this question in another thread about making his motor into a type R motor and the answers was that it would be easier and less hassel to just do a type R motor swap instead. But I'll ask ya'll the same question anyway because I have a different motor so it might be a slightly different story. I have a K20A3 motor, which is a 02 hb si and I was wondering if I can make it a type R motor by just simpling changing some parts. If I can, then what parts do I have to change and into what. If I have no choice but to do a motor swap then what motor do ya'll suggest, the new hb type R motor or the RSX type S motor. I know that they both pushes 200hp but I don't know about the torque. Or should I just save my money and SUPERCHARGE it?
NEED HELP, PLEASE!!!

CAN THE TWO MOTORS I JUST MENTIONED BE THE SAME TYPE OF MOTORS?

Re: Making My Motor Into Type R?

No doubt. Build the one you already have. I think Ktwinkies are really expensive. Not to mention everyone is still on the B series kick, so I'd go nasty with the one you've got. I'd imagine you can make way more than 200hp if you save the swap loot and build what the Lord has blessed you with. That Si engine is gangster, lots of torque, and I've heard that they have 50 degree adjustable cam timing from the factory. Whatever you choose, good luck.

Nobu

P.S. I think I'd rather go turbo than sc on that one, it has a ton of torque as is.

Yes they are sure. Don't post shit, till you know shit.

And sure you can build up your motor to type R/S specs, new cams, pistons, valve train, oil pump, rods, ECU, some PnP work, and a host of other parts and services will turn your motor into a type R/S or better.

The USDM Civic Type R coming out will have a DOHC vtec 2.0 liter, 200hp. If you're unsure about an answer don't respond to people, because as you just proved, you'll look like an idiot.

K20, keep the engine you got man. No need to spend thousands of dollars to go just a little faster. It's a bit more logical for someone like me to go from 106hp to ~195, but for you, a turbo would fill your cup of tea to the rim. For the cost of an rsx-s engine, you could boost to like 250+ hp and have that nifty blowoff sneeze all the girls wet their panties over.

Re: Re: Making My Motor Into Type R?

Yup, 220hp. In Japan they're still called Honda Integra Type R's though.

edit: If the K20A and K20(B? I don't know the new ctr code) are anything like the B's, you should be able to swap out the higher-compression pistons, ctr cams, and ctr ecu for a poor man's Type R. You probably won't be able to find them on ebay though because they're brand new engines, unless a company/dealer is selling them new. Hope you got some dough for that..

Re: Making My Motor Into Type R?

if the rsx-s is k20a3, what about the ones from japan? is it the same motor code too? just with more tuning?

***edit***

it should be the k20a2 for the rsx-s. my mistake.

Actually, the new K-series motors are i vtec now. Although I don't really know what is the different between the two, and I own one. I just know the Ks are better than the Bs because alot of people told me so, unless all of them are wrong.

But that's not the point!!! I just want to thanks all the people that posted on this thread. Ya'll have some pretty good suggustions; except for that idiot who don't know what the fuck he is talkine about, I think everyone know who I'm talking about. I think I'll take ya'll advices (the people with the right info.) and turbo my K20. I'm not sure when I'm going to do it though but I am saving up for it. When I actually acheived it, I will come back on here and tell ya'll how it went and exactly how much hp I gain.

read this
http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/7gtech/7g-swap.htm

Then I could be a dick and post this link http://www.leecao.com/honda/vtec/sohcvtece.html and argue about the dumb vtec comment since we never refer to the older LX's as vtec-e, but I'm not a dick
