Question Mali Engine Problem

I have a 1999 Malibu, just bought from a dealer. My question is when I hit 4000 rpm's the car shakes and the engine wont go any faster. The most rpms I can hit is 4500 with the car in park and the pedal floored. Any ideas???

Re: Mali Engine Problem

Try cleaning out the throttle body with an approved throttle body cleaner made for fuel injected vehicles. Don't know if that'll work but when I had my intake system cleaned (throttle body, intake manifold, etc) the car ran more smoothly, started quicker, and was very responsive. Might cost some money to have the intake system cleaned (~$50.00) but it seems worth it to me at least. Hope it helps.

with the car in park this is normal to keep you from damaging the engine, the computer is shutting off the fuel.
