10 Second Street Stang almost 9 sec
Ok you know how us Mustang fans are never satisfied with our ponies performance and we always want more HP, My mustang is built to be a pretty stout performer and runs 11's with over 450 HP at the rear wheels... But that was not enought for me so I decided to go with the juice and I purchased a Zex 125 HP kit from Summit Racing for $509.00 plus shipping and installed it in about 3 hours... After installing it and checking to make sure everything was ok, I cracked the bottle at my local Dyno facility and rang up 567 HP at the rear wheels, I was astonished, Over 80 hp gain at just over $500.00. The Dyno Mechanic told me that my Mustang would run in the high 9 second range in the quarter at over 130 mph and I believe it will run more in the 10 second range myself. I want to know what the people on this forum think it will run. I am heading to Moroso next week to try it out and I will let you know.
I have to tell you though this thing scares the be-jesus out of me, I am real new to racing and I have never driven a car with this much power... You know I think I will stop looking for more HP now, Well maybe not My Mustang Mods are Coast High Performance 347 short block, new b-303 FRRP cam, Ported GT 40 intake and GT 40 aluminum heads, 1.7 rockers, 77mm Mass Air, 70 mm Throttle body, 50 pound injectors, a new 9 PSI ATI Pro charger with intercooler, Mac Shorty Headers, Flowmasters, Art Carr Street/Strip AOD transmission, 3:73 gears...18inch Cobra R Rims and Nitto Drag tires, 5 Lug conversion and 4 wheel disk brakes. AND NOW A ZEX 125 SYSTEM!!! Best Quarter Mile time 11:17 at 118 MPH at Moroso race track in Oct 2003 |

Now thats what Im talking about. Sounds like you got a real monster there. My guess would be about the same as yours, but there is only one way to find out for sure.
How far back did you have to retard your timing with that much nitrous?

lol, did you finally figure out how high you're spinning your motor? Still spinning it to 8000 with your ecam, stock lifters, GT40 heads, and a gt40 intake
Please, entertain us, and post "your" dyno sheet.

With the ZEX system I had to retard the timing to about 8 degrees. That seemed to work the best. Now I got to figure out how to from spinning my rubber off my tires. I am losing a lot of traction. |

What is your setup why don't you share it with the forum. I am the first to admit I am no expert at this and if I make mistakes I encourage some constructive critism. |

Re: 10 Second Street Stang almost 9 sec
Lets get specific on some of your internals here. From my experience it talkes alot more than the DSS bottom end I'm running to hold up to those type of figures. With a main support mine has held up so far but 500+ hp wears a motor pretty quick so its just a matter of time. My 10sec motor is sitting on an engine stand in my shop. This motor has hundreds of hours of thought and I am slowly building it piece by piece. I started with an A4 block and every part is equal in strength. CHP has never worked on my car but I've spent alot of time on the phone with their tech guys and I've seen cars they have built so I have no doubts of their ability. What block, crank, pistons are you using. What about your suspension? Mine is fairly stock but whats there is devoted to drag racing and it is barley adaquate to run 11s. Even on slicks it is still a challenge launch without breaking loose and it has taken me years of pratice. Before I add any more hp to mine I've got to make it hook. It's unusual to see a rookie jump up and run with the big dogs. It does not surprise me that your car scares you. The short wheelbase of a Mustang and three times the intended power can be unpredictable to say the least. I know every sweak my car makes going down the road and it still does some crazy shit every now and then, it takes experience to learn how to deal with it. I'm glad I still here thinking back on my first year with my Stang. Just don't get cocky behind the wheel or it will bite you in the ass. Don't forget that bad ass Mustang will kill you without thinking twice so RESPECT it.

What type of computer/engine management did you use to get around the factory rev limit of 6250? Hope you didn't extrude hone your GT40 upper.

Re: 10 Second Street Stang almost 9 sec
why not extrude a gt40 upper?
granted, it would be cheaper to get a QUALITY set of heads and a better intake, but maybe he likes the look? ok, seriously though, this thing seems oddly imbalanced to me. He's got budget heads, with an expensive motor, budget cam and intake, yet a 3k charger and 50lb injectors! I guess if it works it works, but it seems like the combo should have been better thought out. I think if he had a 4 bolt main he could take that kind of power. maybe a main support with a 2 bolt. MAYBE.

Re: 10 Second Street Stang almost 9 sec
You can't port the GT40 upper, the walls of the runners are too thin.

125 shot with 9psi. Not bad, but you are going to need a new block soon.
What suspension are you running? You are going to need something that is going to enable you to use the power, pointing out the obvious

Re: 10 Second Street Stang almost 9 sec
Hey, it's not a Victor Jr but I wouldn't say they suck. You just can't do anything to the upper, Adam Day has got some pretty good numbers out of my lower on the flowbench. Been awhile since Ive looked at the paperwork so I'll get back on the exact figures.

well, they are certainly better than stock, but compared to the newer intakes they are a little behind the times.
Victor 5.0, RPM2, Track Heat, etc.
