problem

ok lately I've been getting this wierd noise right after I start it up, sometimes it does it just idling but sometimes it only does it if I rev it up a little bit. its like a sqeeky/scratchy noise and I have no clue what it is

also it feels like my transmission is slipping or something because say I got to 4k rpms in 1st and shift to second then go back on the gas, the rpms stay at 4k then after like 2 seconds on the gas it drops down to normal again... *sigh* my car is falling apart more and more everyday and I don't have any money

Re: problem

The woes of owning a 15 y/o car.

The first problem I have no clue.
Second problem sounds like your clutch is going. You could do a ghetto repair and get a clutch disc for about $70
http://www.moonlightmechanic.com/sto...rt=Clutch+Disc

Or do a whole new OEM type setup for about $300

cry... its so wierd, it was working totaly normal friday night when some guy in a civic tried messing with me while I was minding my own business, then I had to tell him bye bye then saturday morning I'm on my way to circuit city and I'm like WTF!?!? wierdest feeling ever. I figured it was the clutch(duh) I was just hoping I was wrong cry some more
looks like I wont be getting a new acoustic guitar for awhile now... just wish I had 500 bucks to get a street clutch and steel flywheel from mazdatrix and then I'd be glad it went out cuz it'd give me a reason to buy it... but I have a whole 267 dollars on me and maybe 80 in the bank so that may not work heh

Re: problem

If you are planing on replacing the flywheel in the future then just drop in a clutch disk for now. It will buy you some time and save you some money.

Re: problem

it'll shift fine if I do that? like as in it'll last till like may? cuz thats when I was planning on doing the clutch and flywheel before all this happened. I found a new OEM disc at mazdatrix.com for $65, is that a resonable price or would I be better off buying one from a shop or something?

Re: problem

that deffinately makes sense, thank for the suggestion, I think I'll be doing that, unfortunately its cold as balls in kansas right now so I might be paying a shop to do it for me unless it warms up a bit

the rx7 is fun on the ice roads

Re: problem

ok I'm hoping this might be my problem, I was just kinda looking around on the racing beat website and saw that on the clutch throwout bearing they said something about if it goes bad it can kinda make a whirring sound, although mine is at startup sometimes not everytime I put in the clutch, http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda2.htm that the page. any ideas? could that maybe be the sound? I'm hoping it is cuz its only $35 haha

Re: problem

I think it only makes noise if you have the clutch disengaged. But if its fubar it might make noise all the time.
