headlights dont work, but highs do?

Ok. I have xenon blubs in my civic's headlights. for some reason the regular headlights dont work, but when i put the high beams on they do. do they have 2 different filaments or is something wrong? note: they went out about a week apart from each other. this is the 2nd time my xenons have burnt out. should i just spend the extra money and get some nice PIAA ones or something. i got some generic ones. i guess you get what you pay for.

you can blow the lows without blowing the highs, you'll need new bulbs to fix it. If you're blowing them left and right there's something wrong.

Agreed...

If they're blowing out alot, you might want to check your wiring for anything loose that would cause a short... or check to see if moisture is building up in the housing.

There is NO fix to prevent this from happening other than just using stock wattage bulbs, or getting one of those expensive H4 harness/wire upgrade kits. Plain and simple, the factory headlight wiring and harnesses CANNOT support the higher wattage of 80,90, or 100 watt headlight bulbs, and therefore any pair of such you get WILL blow out way more sooner than they normally should if not cause any electical problems or melting of headlight housing insides or harnesses. This price one has to pay to "look cool" or pretend they have HIDs. Just get some stock wattage PIAA bulbs, or some Sylvania Silver Stars and they will still look great, and you won't have to worry about them blowing out on you every few months.

Make sure that when you put the bulbs in, you are not touching the glass. When running, the glass gets extremely hot. The oil from your fingers gets on the glass, heats up and causes the bulb to blow.
