Question Dazed And Confused

I got a question and if anyone with strong technical backround could help me, it woud be great.

I got a 1993 Eagle Talon automatic. It's got a JDM Mitsubishi Cyclone 4G63 engine non-turbo FWD in it. Its in pretty good shape about 50 000 Kilometers on it (Engine only). Now I've heard some rumors that their suppose to crank out 200 or so HP. But I'm not too sure about that cuz 1.its automatic, 2.its none-turbo and 3.its FWD. What I'd like to know is how much HP I can expect from mine.

Re: Dazed And Confused

200 is not unreasonable.
that is flywheel HP, at the wheels you will probably get more like 160.

I don't know what your smoking, but I suggest you don't do it while posting.

The non-Turbo 4g63 was made for several years in a variety of forms, depending on its age your JDM engine would be making somewhere between 130-140hp in its stock form.

With the right exhaust and intake you might get another 5-7hp out of it, but to get to 200 would require some quite serious work.
A turbo would be easiest option, but they are not as strong internaly as the Turbo versions of the same engine, and so if power is your ultimate goal then a swap to a Turbo'd engine from a VR4 or EVO would be a only place to start.
These engine start at around 240hp and get up to 300 depending on year and model, from there how hp you get is depentant only on how much money you have.
Cams and the right head work plus tuning might also get you to 200hp, but I think you will find the cost would be greater than simply buying and installing a Turbo engine.

The fact that its an Automatic does not limit the engines power, but it does limit how much power reachs the wheels and how efficantly its used.

Imma try and clarify some things up so i dont get ppl confused.

Its a '93 engine as well. The thing is that the previous owner was a racer and did some customizations to it, the details to me are minimal but the only thing i know is that its got a custom exhaust with silencers, and everything else to me seems stock. It still runs great, the performance on it is amazing for its state (not being able to pass an emissions tests).

Im just here to find out as much as i can on my car so i can see what i would be working on, and where i can get, or if i dont have much, i'll just scrap it and start over on a Dodge Stealth.

do you even realise that that srt4 or "shitty neon" as you put it would murder badly the avenger which acording to you is the best car dodge makes

and btw not passing emmision does not mean necesarily that your car runs bad...it might be that the previous owner has removed the cat...in which case you gained a decent amount of power

Yes i agree with you, that shitty neon would murder the avenger, i just dont know where you got avenger from sealth?

And ive taken the car to a friend of mine and he told me that if i fine-tuned the car, id see a dramatic increase in performance. Im pretty sure all he added was a custom exhasut and the engine.

my bad i though i read avenger....anyway the stealth IMO is not that much of an improvement....

its basically an overweight FF car with the capacity to switch power to the back wheels(similar system as in the skyline unfortunatelly they put it backwards)

and the only worthy stealth is the TT version

Re: Dazed And Confused

The turbo 1st gen eclipses were rated to put out 195 hp. the turbo 2nd gen eclipses were rated to 210 hp.

The non turbo 2nd gen is rated to put out 140 hp while the first gens would put out 135 hp. With intake and exhaust, you are looking to make maybe 120 wheel horsepower.
