Question 04 v6 Reliability

After reading Consumer Reports' articles on the v6 reliability, apparently due to a fuel problem, I'd like to know if the "recall" Toyota apparently had rectified the issue.

I also perused http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=149984 for any other info.

Anyone know what's going on with the v6's more recent (3 mo's worth) reliability?

G5gyrl,

I highly suggest you search at yotatech.com for threads on the new V6. Lots of information and experience there....including an owner's/now past owner's experience with the lemon law. The V6 is controversial! The V8 is tried and true and the MPG difference isn't more than 1 or 2 MPG.

Tell us what you decide after reading!

Thanks!

I don't need a V8, but if the V6 is that iffy, I might consider it. Or get the extended warranty on the V6.

Thanks again, I'll look at yotatech.com.

I can't really find much on there saying bad things. (of course you can't use v6 in the search though)

If you can give me specific links, that'd be great.

Re: 04 v6 Reliability

Thanks AndroT100!

It looks like Toyota was working on fixing the problems mentioned, so I'm not concerned. I have 28,500 miles on my 1998 VW (bought in 3/98) so I have confidence the 2004 4Runner v6 will last me a while.

It's good info to know though, I'll ask them about it and I'll listen good to the engine when I test drive it. I'm just not interested in a v8, that's way too much car for me!

Thanks a ton for the feedback, I actually feel better now! :-)

Going shopping in a couple of weeks! :-)
