Removing Tranny 4 Speed

Is it possible for me to take the tranny out and put the new clutch in without takin the engine out? Its a 88 4 speed.
Cant I just drop the tranny from the bottom of the car?

I have taken a engine out of a 90 LX sedan and also replaced the clutch in the tranny, so do you think its possible for me to have the new clutch in a weekend if i work at it straight?

Thanks

you could do it by yourself in a day.

remove all the tranny mounts and loose the engine mount.. support the engine with a jack, lower it down, pull the tranny off, change the clutch, replace tranny, jack the engine back up and bolt the mounts back on.

Ok,

I will have to separate the lower balljoints right?
And also, take the axles out. I am worried cause last time i damaged both lower balljoints when i hammered them out with a picklefork. If I put some type of grease will it lessen the risk of damage to them?

I dont need an engine hoist to hold the tranny right?
I can use a car jack like u said?
Thanks

when i changed the cluth in my 95 civic with the 1.5 sohc, all we had to do was support the engine with the jack, and remove the axles and drop the tranny, all u can try and do is be careful with the joints, my only prob i had was tearing the dust boots but those can be replaced pretty cheap
