STD Need New Clutch
I drove my 88 Hatch right after it was primered and had the newly installed MPFI swap.
Everything seems to run fine except my clutch slips horribly. I launched from a light at 3000 RPM's and the clutch just slipped and made a horrible smell into the cabin of the car. Anyways, I plan to swap the 4 speed tranny for the 5 speed SI after school ends and I have time. My question is, will this clutch kit work- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33730 I have the 4 speed but it says the 88 Civic will work. Will this only work for 5 speeds or can i put it on my 4 speed? Thanks

yep, it will work. all 88s have the same number of splines on the input shaft.

Ok thanks,
How much is it if I bought the clutch and took it to a mechanic to have it installed? Thanks

Re: STD Need New Clutch
figure 100 bucks for the clutch. about 4 hours the put it in at 65 bucks a hour. might take shorter or longer but i would say about 400.
do it yourself. the only bitch of it is the shift linkage pin. |

i just unbolt the linkage from teh shifter and drop it with the tranny.. the bitch for me was lining up the input shaft with the clutch.. even with the alignment tool it didnt want to go in, and took me almost 3 hours of manhandling it. i got so pissed i punched a big dent in my passenger side fender
