My First Thread

Hey guys, hope someone has some feedback---I have a 2002 Tacoma I bought new from the dealer. The stock tires on it are large for a 2wd compared to my old '87. ANy of you know what larger sizes of more aggressive tires would look good on the truck? It now has the factory 235/75/15 on it.

I have read some of the early posts regarding the knocking on the 4 cylinders- my response is that before I even test drove my Tacoma, the dealer said that these engines have a new design in that they went back to a metal chain driven timeing chain. He said that it would make a sound almost like it was knocking. It does and I have never had a problem with it (have over 30k on it now). I have the small 2.4 litre, a very inefficient engine. The 22r in my '87 get way more gas mileage, has the same power and some more torque. All that with 400,000 miles and no rebuild!

Do any of you know about getting bed carpet???

If you want to get bigger tires you should probably get a small body lift, otherwise you dont wont to rub when you go over bumps, I would reccomend BFG mud terain, also MTR goodrich but they dont last as long Because they are softer. Depending on the year of your truck you can find a body lift for cheap, though with a 2 wheel drive truck that will be stupid beefing it up because of poor offroad capability.

OK, I would definitely NEVER want any sort of lift on a 2wd truck; I really just want some bigger tires to fill it in.

I installed a Bed Rug when getting a ARE tonneau. One of the best decisions I ever made. Have carpeting all around and it's easy to keep things clean, organized and secure.

Re: My First Thread

well here is my suggestion, go with some 265/75 r16 bf goodrich all- terains, they are the best tires i have ever had, and they look bad a**, not to mention they aret the best as far as cost benefit ratio is concerned.

the biggest you could fit is 30 9.5 and you will still rub if you are at full turn or wheeling. But you have 16inch wheels? just get line-x great stuff.

Re: My First Thread

Have you seen the carpet in person? It's very durable, molds to the bed and is great to sleep on. I feel like I'm trying to sell this stuff and that not the case. I'm only saying that I got it for my truck and am very happy with it. If you want, you can find them at bedrug.com. But a better way is to get it from the business you buying the topper at. With today's economy, you should be able to talk the business your buying the topper from into selling it to you for the price on the web site. Saving S/H costs. Don't pay to have it installed, the directions are good and it only takes about 45 minutes.

Try Cabela's $339. I have seen them for around $200 else where though. I will let you know if I see them.

Re: My First Thread

Here is another site. I would think that any local auto store would be able to get one for you with out shipping though. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/gofast/bedliners.html
