uhm... i noticed this once before but didnt pay any mind to it as i didnt think it was coming from my car, but in the last month i've noticed several times that there is a "rotten egg" smell coming from my car.
the oil isnt old. and i notice it mainly when i have the a/c or heat on, and when i really work the engine... anyone else notice this smell? lol, whats goin on? |

Have you had the a/c checked lately?.
Was told by my dealer that you should have the a/c going at least once a week to let it circulate, even in winter, and to have it re-gassed now and then. Hope this helps a bit. |

Leaking coolant can also cause that smell when it evaporates off a hot surface ..check for coolant leaks

That's the sign of a faulty alternator.
If your alternator happens to be over-charging your battery, you could get the same symptom (egg odor). Next time you notice the odor, pop your hood and do a visual check of your battery. An over-charged battery would look a bit swollen, you may even notice some gas escaping from under the cell cover/cap things. This sounds like it could be a cause of your problem. Get it fixed soon . . . whatever it is. Rotten eggs are VERY uncool . . . Stevie B P10 :sun: |

That's true. Catalytic converters get funky when they go bad too. A 2001 shouldn't have a bad cat tho'. The catalytic conv. is designed to work for the life of the car I believe.
Doesn't hurt to check . . . Hurry up Boogie . . . I can smell you across the Verrazano . . . lol! Stevie B P10 :sun: |
