Happy New Years! I've a 96 Grand Prix 3.1Liters engine. I've been smelling gas for months and found that the fuel pressure regulator is leaking gas while the engine is running. However, the car runs like a new one and has 174,000 miles on it. Should I go ahead and replace this part or is it safe to wait until the problem get worse. Also, do I need to releive the fuel pressure before replacing the regulator if and when I decide to replace it? Thanks! :

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator
Well just keep in mind that you have a fuel leak and what temps you engine gets, just not a safe combination if you ask me.

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator
the fuel pressure regulator is kinda simple to replace all you need is a T27 torx ans 2 wrenches is should only take about 10 to 15min tops
the regulator just pushes into the fuel rail and the two wrenchs keep you from twisting aneything when you remove it from the fuel line its somthing I had to do when I got my GP last year its not a big thing but if you let it go and the fuel gets near the exhaust you will have a verry big problem |
