Question 1993 4.3 Wseries that Stinks???

I have just replaced the heater core on my Jimmy and cleaned the erg valve...it still runs rich...but not as bad...and really stinks while idling...
And, in the past smelled like gun powder at idle...
Have replaced the plugs recently...and about a quart of gas was in the oil...so changed with new filter...3 of the plugs on one side had a green tinge to them...I need suggestions on how to get this thing running better...sometimes the 'service engine soon' light comes on but I continue to drive it...I am thinking ? "do I have a lemon or what'
I thought the 4.3 v6 was to ber a good engine...the rest of the SUV is in good condition...power, cruise, sound 4X4...what more do I need...

P.S. I nearly forgot...it starts hard...much harder than any GM I have had in the past...it must turn over for 30sec. or so..then sputters and starts...?

Re: 1993 4.3 Wseries that Stinks???

Over the weekend...I bought a manuel and the guy at the parts store was helpful and asked if the gas milage sucks and that I should check fuel pressure?
Then, :I see in the Haynes Manuel that 9-13 PSI for fuel pressure for this model...1993 4.3 V6
Any help appreciated...Best Wishes... :o)

Re: 1993 4.3 Wseries that Stinks???

My 94 jimmy 4.3 (W) in vin.# started hard and smelt like gunpowder when I bought it. Ran alright after it started. I replaced fuel pump (GM). Someone I know that works at a GM company got it for me and told me to try that first. And it still did the samething. I put 2 bottles of GM Top Cleaner in it about 2 months apart. Then I had him get the (spider) fuel injectors. Looks like a spider to me. I put it in and the truck ran like a new one. The truck had 136,631 miles on it then 12/28/01. Now it has 175,351 and as you said I hope they are not leaking. The truck starts great and runs fine. It has plenty of power. I can roast off my BF Goodrich A/T tires if I wanted to. But with that many miles I try to baby it. I'm going to look at the things you told me. When you resonded to my post. Thanks mjohn ------- Dan
