On my 97 Bonneville it is right on the keyfob. I know inside the trunk is a slider to to disable the trunk from being opened from the inside of the car, this might also be the case for the remote. Pictured if you were sitting on your bumper to put your golf shoes on, your behind would be right on top of it. This is from past experience of shutting the switch off

Re: how to pop the trunk with the remote keyless entry on a 97 bonneville
you may need to re program you keyless entry system here is programming instructions you have to use a fused jumper on the data link connector 6 steps to follow 1 turn ignition switch off 2 jumper terminals 8 blk/wht to terminal 4 blk close all doors 3 turn on ignition door locks cycle 4 press and hold lock and unlock buttons on remote hold for about 30 seconds after this locks will cycle again 5 to program more than one remote repeat step four make sure through this whole process you leave key switch on 5 disconnect jumper from data link connector now you turn ignition switch off but not until this point try using your remotes they should work trunk switch dosent affect keyless just trunk button on drivers door
