no spark

i have an 83 chevy silverado that has no spark. I know that it is getting power to the coil, because i checked it. The coil is new. I believe that it could be a short in a wire somewhere. Does this sound right or could it be something else.

Re: no spark

If you disconnect the coil wire from the distributor and plug in a spark tester does the coil alone produce a spark? I not then you have to look at what conrtols the coil. Does the truck have a crank sensor that refrences tdc? This could be the problem.

measure the resistance of the pick up coil, usually around 1000 ohms or less, possible ignition module problem
