How depressing? Besides problems does any here have modified Jettas?
New here guys, but not new to spirited motoring. I was wondering besides all the problems i see in this section are there any modified Jetta's and what do have, no b.s. please, just be honest, i dont have much. Though my E30 is fully modified, but this is for VW and this is my daily driver auto. Shes a Silver Arrow MK4 VR6 Jetta-5speed manual.
Neuspeed Race Series Cold Air Intake. Unorthodox Underdrive Pulleys H&R Cup Kit with H&R Sway bar Techtonics Tuning Stainless 2.5 Catback 18X8.5 inche wheels Flik Artik-A's Its just depressing to me that other sections here like honda have fun things to talk about and not "how much my pussy hurts" like i see here.

Re: How depressing? Besides problems does any here have modified Jettas?
I'm new to the forum also. I have an 01 wolfsburg jetta with a cai, 2.5cb, and APRv2 software. I'm pushing around 15-17psi, depending on the weather. My car is pretty quick, it surprises a lot of people. People see a Jetta, and don't think too much about them as far as performance goes.My car was pretty slow stock, but after I got the software, it transformed the 1.8t into something serious. It's nice to see other vw owners modding their cars. These are some web sites that you should check out. www.vwfixx.com, and www.vwvortex.com. these are some awesome sites and are very informative.

Thats nice to know. I have been thinking about getting the new Jetta GLI that comes with the 18 inche wheels and the motor and tranny of the GTI 337. I have seen pics of it and i think its beautiful. Though i might wait for the mk5 version if they make one for the next "real new" model and not these subtle variations. I also know the "Vortex" and as it is informative there is also a lot of tension in there. Most posts i have read in there are sometimes really hostile and im not in to that. Last night i put on my autotech short shifter and it was probably one of the best things i have done to this car. Probably will be selling it in a year and might buy a 350z, rx-8 or a jetta GLI. Since all cars can be had under 30,000(which is all i can spend) im pretty sure these are the ones. Yeah it is also very nice to know that other people tune their VW's. If people only knew the potential of a 1.8t and the VR6.

Re: How depressing? Besides problems does any here have modified Jettas?
might wanna think about the 03 Jetta GLI. 200hp 24v Vr6, with the 06M (i think thats the right code... still fried from new years, haha) 6 speed manual. Its neck snappingly wonderful, haha.
The other thing is that there really aren't many VW people on here, so when people post, they're just posting their problems... especially with Jetta's because so many of the owners are clueless. But, if you have cool ideas or thoughts, post them, and there are a few people at least who will have responses. (kind responses too... as long as they're not too frickin idiotic, haha) So yeah, that's my 2 cents.

That is true. A lot of the junk i see seems to belong to people who have the uninspiring 2litre. Anyways on another note i am going to UTI this February and im doing the VW Manufacture Specific Training. First i spend roughly a year getting my ASE certification in a ton of fields and then i do the actual VW training thats like 3 months(cant recall). Busy with all the paper work and housing issues, so it will be fun. Its in Houston, TX and if there are any fellow v-dubbers that live around there, i would like to know what there is for us down there.
But i cant wait till next year, a new car around the corner and so many to chose from. But even though there is the VR6 GLI, but after this one, im not sure about owning another one. Its so expensive to modify her, where-as the 1.8t is so cheap and easy to modify. Like 1fastvw. All he did was change software and couple bolt-ons and hes more than likely got 200+whp. A VR6 wont see that without a 3.1litre stroker kit or supercharging, turbo too. Plus with the 1.8t you could always upgrade the turbine itself and add a front mount. All in the realm of reason vs. money. I do like the 350z and RX-8. Having driven both and must agree that the magazines dont lie. I would be hesitant on upgrading the suspension or the motor. These beautys are built to perform, out of the box like the R32. |

That training sounds incredible, wish i had the time to do it.
As for the 1.8t... DON'T FALL TO THE DARKSIDE. hahaha... yeah ok anyway... seriously, go with an R32 or even just one of the new VR6 GTI's. Both are at or over 200hp as it is... and we both know there's nothing like the sound and feel of a Vr6. OR get a BMW M3... but that's just my thoughts, hahaha.

Yeah i agree the v6 is quite a throaty beast in the sound department. I thought of the R32, but i dont like golf bodystyle too much. If the rumors are true that theyre making a jetta version, than i will get that. I even heard that is was going to be a coupe'. Like the 1552 design Jetta. Well you know how rumors are. Anyways i would never own a 1.8t, im just being stupid. It doesnt have the right character im looking for. Besides i dont like 4 cylinders of any kind. Theyre so gutless.
