Re: what's the difference between catback and dual exhaust?

a cat back can be a dual exhaust.
dual is better than single unless it's a 4 cyl.

Re: what's the difference between catback and dual exhaust?

Catback merely describes the portion of the exhaust system that exists behind (from the point of view of exhaust flow) the catalytic converter.

A dual exhaust, well, there are lots of kinds of dual exhausts. Usually, these are catback exhaust systems.

Re: what's the difference between catback and dual exhaust?

Mustang - a single exhaust is always the one that loses the least energy, unless the exhaust piping is very convoluted. The less surface area that the exhaust gas is exposed to (e.g. the metal of the exhaust piping), the less heat is lost, and we want the exhaust as hot as possible (within limits)...

Of course, for V engines, it's probably better to use a dual exhaust for space reasons.
